I feel like I'm spamming the flist today with three posts, and I'm really sorry for that. But I was just over reading Joe Mallozzi's blog and found something that I just *had* to share with someone or I might...EXPLODE! LOL!

Here's the excerpt that has my fangirly squeee in overdrive:

"A final of Alan McCullough’s Daedalus Variations came out today and we shifted focus to Alan’s second - extreme Shep-whumpage - script, co-storied by Robert C. Cooper."

*whimpers pitifully*

Isn't it time for season 5 to start yet? *headdesk*

Title: Sins of Our Forefathers
Rating: Teen (or PG13 if you prefer)
Pairing: none
Word Count: 4505
Disclaimer: SGA is owned by MGM, SciFi, Acme-Shark, and others. Tragically, I am none of the aforementioned. *sobs*
Warnings: Despite certain appearances, this is NOT a deathfic. Not permanent death, at any rate. ;)
Summary: While attempting to finalize an alliance on another planet, things don't go quite according to plan and John nearly pays the ultimate price.

Notes: This was originally written for the One Hour of Hell challenge at [livejournal.com profile] sgahcchallenges. That challenge had a 4000 word limit and this, the original ending, was a bit too far over to fudge and I cut a lot to post there. So even if you've read that version, the ending posted here is a bit more detailed and contains additional characters.

I managed to grab a few caps of the SGA gang from the People's Choice Awards. It wasn't the highest quality clip and I did what I could. I'm certain there are probably better ones out there by now, but if you haven't seen them yet...

Go here for Teh Purdies! WARNING! NOT DIAL-UP FRIENDLY!! )

I don't mind sharing these, but please do comment/credit if you take/use them. Thanks!

Rating: PG
Category: Gen
Word Count: 9050
Characters: John & Rodney, with a little Carson and Lorne thrown in
Pairings: None
Challenge: Um, not really a challenge per se, but [livejournal.com profile] karri_kln1671 asked for a Sheplantis story.
Spoilers/Warnings: Spoilers for The Return, Pt. 2 (season 3); much whumping of various characters--especially John. :D
Summary: When random systems on Atlantis begin shutting down for no apparent reason, Rodney and John are cut off from the rest of the city. Then John suffers an attack of unknown origin and collapses and it's up to Rodney to find out what's happening and why--before it's too late for both Sheppard and the city.
Notes: This is unashamedly and unabashedly a Sheplantis story (Sheppard and his gene interacting with the city). If you dislike stories where Atlantis appears almost sentient, then you'll probably want to give this one a pass. :)

So I've been fighting a cold the past few days, one of those where the fever makes your eyes hurt too much to look at a computer screen or television.  So I fired up the DVDs I've burned of SGA season 3 up through 'Progeny' and dozed for most of the day yesterday.   So as I dozed to the comforting tones of John, Rodney, Carson, & co, I started to think about what lies ahead--especially the next episodes that lead up to the half-season cliff-hanger.

katstales: (AshFlower)
My 6-yr-old granddaughter is spending the weekend with us and found my 'Men of Atlantis' coasters that I picked up at Media West last May. Being the inquisitive little squirt that she is, she wanted to know who they were. So I patiently told her which was John, which was Ronon, and which was Carson. (Sorry D, no Rodney. He was sold out. ::pouts::) Well, being the curious sort myself (where did you think she got it? *g*), I asked her who she liked best. She looked them all over again and then with no hesitation whatsoever, pointed to Carson. I tried telling her that John was her Mommy's favorite and mine, too. No dice, she still insisted Carson was her favorite. I showed her the Season three promo pic with John in leather jacket. No luck, Carson still came out on top. So in a last ditch effort to sway her to The Bliss That Is Sheppard, I told her that Carson talks funny.  She made me find a clip for her to listen to and then promptly giggled all the way through it. (Carson's message home in Letters from Pegasus, in case you were wondering) ::sigh:: She now is totally and completely under Carson's spell.

::headdesk::

Where, oh where, did I go wrong???

Whew!

I managed to reconstruct the scenes that I lost yesterday from the VS9 project and complete the next one--woohoo!!  And I even managed to remember to click the "yes" button when prompted to save changes--go me!! LOL!

Before I wander off to bed, a few thoughts on both Stargates from last night:

katstales: (Default)
*giggles*  OMG; Shep, Rodney, Carson, Ronan--the entire cast was just totally, awesomely, hysterical!

I'm laughing my way through last night's Stargate:Atlantis episode for the *coughcough* seventh time.  *Total Bliss*  In fact, I've downright overdosed on Stargate between SG1 and Atlantis.   'The Storm' from season one begins in a few moments, so I'm planning to watch that and then 38 Minutes on my local Fox channel.  Obsessed?  Who, me?? *hehe*

Talk about doing a 180--last week at this time I was sitting here in the dark, totally depressed over missing out on the second episodes of the season.  Some rather nasty thunderstorms and tornados rambled through here a week ago Friday, leaving us without power from about noon Friday until early Sunday evening.   I am so happy to have electricity again!
katstales: (Default)
Hubby worked an extra day today, and with that 8 hrs of time and a half on his next check, we might just be able to pull off ordering his computer this month after all. *fingers crossed*

So having the laptop to myself all day, I really should have made some serious progress on the VS9 thing. Sadly, the muse is still refusing to cooperate and play in Jaffa-land.

On the bright side, she's still firmly insisting on playing in Atlantis. The PlotBunny file is now sitting at an even two dozen. I'm not sure I even want to know what she's going to come up with next weekend after having a new episode for inspiration, LOL! I'm not capitulating, though; she's going to have to give in and finish the SG-1 stuff before I let her fully loose in/on Atlantis.

You'd think she'd know by now that I *am* my father's daughter, having inherited his uber-stubborness gene.

I had such good intentions of posting regularly back when I started this last October. Sigh. Just like I had such good intentions when I signed on to participate in the Virtual Season 9 for SG-1...which brings me to my guilt-tripping issues.

I am so fracking far behind schedule that it is so not even funny. I feel totally horrible that I'm responsible for keeping the season from progressing. And it's my episode that is due up next, so it's definitely me at fault. Worse yet, the darn story is barely half-finished. Why am I so far behind? There are a number of reasons, ranging from two grown kids moving back in with us (bye-bye quiet time...sob!), having to babysit several days a week for the remaining grown kid's kid while her mom works, and most recently, a herniated disk in my back that kept me off the computer for several months. Even now, I can't sit comfortably enough to work on it for very long.

But you know, if I'm really honest with myself, the real reason it's become so difficult for me to find the motivation to write this is that I've found another obsession to capture my interest. Yep, gone are the days when I'd watch rerun upon rerun of SG-1 just because it was on. And last season, it really didn't concern me in the least if I didn't make it home from my weekly dinner date with hubby in time to catch the first episode. I didn't tape or record a single episode. I did catch most of the episodes on the second showing, but it is no longer a must-see show for me. I find that rather sad, actually.

What's my new obession?? Well, if the icon wasn't a dead-give-away, I'm now completely and totally into Stargate Atlantis--and especially the oh-so-HOT Lt. Colonel John Sheppard. I've even converted my daughter who moved back home until she finishes school...(whistles innocently) I liked the show and have watched from the beginning, but somehow, over the last season, I found my interest in Atlantis growing as the interest in SG-1 waned. My stubborn muse is SO wanting to play in the Atlantis pond right now! My Atlantis plot-bunny file is growing by leaps and bounds, but I'm refusing to let her (the muse, not the daughter!) play there until she helps me buckle down and finish the VS-9 episode we agreed to do. We are now at over a dozen bunnies and counting. And with the new season starting next week, I'm sure the file will be expanding exponentially.

Damn.

I *really* need to buckle down and get that VS-9 ep finished...
