I Am NOT A Happy Camper!

WARNING: Rant ahead!!

I pretty much guess its not going to be a good day when I wake up with a monster sinus headache. I down a handful of ibuprophen and go back to bed until after 1pm. Still have it when I get up, but go ahead take my shower and check email until hubs gets home. (He had to work a sixth day--again). By the time he's done rooting around looking for a gift card to Office Max that I won't need until after dinner anyway, it's around 4-ish. The plan is, in spite of it being ridiculously freakin' cold outside, to get all of the Christmas decorations I've spent the last few days cleaning and packing up back to our storage unit. We finally tote it all out to the car and have nearly frozen our asses off in the process. There is no room in trunk or backseat when we were finished, and all but one small box is in the there. We hop in and drive all the way to the storage unit, which is a good 20-30 minutes away. (I've suggested we get one closer, but so far, no go. Maybe he'll be ready to listen after today...) So we pull up and enter the code to get in the gate, because by now the office is closed for the weekend.

Sooo, we drive up to our unit and get out. I'm about to begin hauling out boxes from the backseat when hubs, who has gone to unlock the unit, says, "What's this?" I turn around and am extremely surprised to see one of their red you-were-bad-and-haven't-paid-your-rent locks in the extra spot provided for such occasions on our latch.

So, keeping in mind that we're having single digit wind chills at that time of day, we trot over to the office to check if someone might by chance be working late and can tell us why the hell we've been locked out. I have it set up on our online banking to send the payment every month automatically, so I'm fairly certain it's been paid--and on time. But banks have been know to make errors, so at that point I'm not quite ready to start screaming bloody murder just yet. We get to the office and no luck. It's dark. So we trudge back to the car, climb back in, and head off to the automated postal center for hubs to mail his eBay package. Once that's done, we drive back home.

By now the sun has gone down and the wind chills are hovering at 0, and there we are lugging all the damn boxes back inside the apartment. Once we've got them stashed in the dining room (which means I can't get to my microwave again *sigh*), I fire up the computer and log into the banking page. I find out the payment has indeed been processed and mailed, so there was no bank error. The check hasn't, however, been cashed. But then it wasn't cashed last month until Jan 5th and today is only the 3rd. (And it's not at all uncommon for them to take over a week to cash the check.)

So I ask you, Mr. Budget Storage Rental, WHY THE HELL HAVE I BEEN LOCKED OUT??? Oh, and just in case it's not obvious to you--you can damn well bet that you'll be getting a call from me first thing Monday morning. Be ready for quite an earful, because that's what you're going to get!

And I'll spare you all Mr. Crabby-Pants' (hubs) little snit-fit when he got home from work, wherein he totally twisted what I said into something else. I get that he's tired and work is being a royal pain with this special project, and that he's working 50-60 hrs and only one day off a week, but I really don't appreciate having his bad mood taken out on me. So Daughter and I went to the mall in effort to improve my mood, which mostly worked. Didn't really do anythign for my headache, tho. I bought three books (two for me and one for the kidlets), lip gloss, body cream, shower gel, tax software, another jump drive, and a tote bag. Then we had dinner at St. Louis Bread Company and I was sorely wishing I'd brought my laptop with me to hang out there for awhile. I finally got home around 9:45 or so. I'd like to read my new books, but I've still got this damn headache, so that's not happening. Ditto for writing. So I guess I'll just turn down all the lights and watch the SGA ep on Fox before digging into Robin Hood.

Hope all of you on my flist had a much better Saturday than I did!

*hugs Kat*

I survived the Maul and getting bras (The worst type of shopping, ever, ever!!) And the Target (Frack me, why do I go to such places on the first weekend of the month?). And the Wild Oats with that creepy person in the fur coat.

*sends warm coffee/hot chocolate and goodies*

oh, and ronon's gun for shooting storage folks

Thanks for the hugs--much appreciate them. :)

Glad you survived The Maul, too. Totally agree on bra shopping. Books and such are much more fun kinda shopping. Daughter and I both agreed that we now remember why we avoid The Maul like the plague on weekend evenings--too many parents dump the kids off to run wild while they go on their merry little way and shop. Luckily we found some shops that were not wild-child central and (mostly) had a good time.

You went to Target the day before the Super Bowl? My friend, you are either very, very brave or very, very NUTS! :D

I'll take the coffee, thanks. Love hot chocolate, too, but it doesn't sound all that good to my stomach at the moment. (Damn headache!)

And thanks for the Ronon-gun, too. Was thinkin' I might have to talk to Steph about borrowing the big guy for a day or two... ;)

::hugs back::

*huggles* I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. I think it's time to concede defeat and call doc tomorrow. :(

Gah, that sucks! Nothing productive should be attempted in the winter, is what I say. That's why bears hibernate- they know it's futile trying to Do Stuff in the cold.

Thanks. Love the theory. :)

Unfortunately, I cannot handle having all these boxes sitting around until it warms up--though by the time this all gets straightened out, with my luck, it will probably be spring.
