Summary: While attempting to finalize an alliance on another planet, things don't go quite according to plan and John nearly pays the ultimate price.

sgahcchallenges. That challenge had a 4000 word limit and this, the original ending, was a bit too far over to fudge and I cut a lot to post there. So even if you've read that version, the ending posted here is a bit more detailed and contains additional characters.
