I just finished watching First Strike. Oh. My. God!

This was...was...was...WOW! I'm only going to highlight a few points, but the whole episode was just totally, absolutely awesome from start to finish.

--I liked the explanation of how Dr. Keller has come to be the CMO. I also like that she's terribly reluctant and wants Carson's eventual permanent replacement there like, yesterday. LOL. And while I REALLY want Carson back, I think I can live with Keller for the time being.

--Why does every single new AF Colonel they introduce have to start out being a total A-hole? Ellis was an absolute jerk at the beginning, especially toward Elizabeth. It's only after the plan backfires on them in spectacular fashion that he sorta redeems himself. He did get points for telling John that he thought John was doing a great job, but then he lost them immediately by saying that John should be the one in charge of Atlantis. Loved John's stunned look and then reply that then he'd be The Man and who would he rage against? Ellis did eventually get points for the apology to Liz, but I'm still not sure I'm going to like the character all that much.

--I was wondering if Liz's talk with Teyla about having to resign if they got out of this one might be the foreshadowing of next season. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

--They sank the city! Oh lordy, I was so holding my breath all the way down. It was too early for it to be the thing that saved them, so I wasn't surprised to find it didn't work like they'd hoped. I was expecting the shield to fail and flooding to occur, though--was SO NOT prepared for what happened.

--LOL @ John trying to explain how they (his team) is the Fantastic Four to Teyla and Ronon. Though when he told Teyla she was the Invisible Woman, I had to say out loud "You got that right!" Loved her telling him she was not invisible and how he got all flustered when she questioned why he got to be Mr. Fantastic. But while it was a cute scene and I love it to death, it kind of didn't go with the rest of the tone of the episode. On one hand, it was good to have the break in the tension--because by then I was on pins and needles and had been for most of the episode. And I stayed that way through the entire ep...with the exception of this one scene. So yeah, didn't really seem to fit.

--OH. MY. GOD. Shep and Rodney come up with the wild-ass plan to FLY the city to a new planet where the replicators can't find them--AWESOMENESS TO THE Nth DEGREE!! Heehee, I just knew that drilling platform they found was going to come into play again. LOL @ Radek demanding to know what they've come up with. Yet again, John and Rodney seem to be thinking in sync and only speaking in half-sentences. Poor Radek, just couldn't quite keep up with them.

--Lorne!! Lorne was there leading the F302 group and flying the asteroid. It was so great to see him again. LOL @ his comment about how this might actually *work.*

--Another OH. MY. GOD. They did it--and Shep flew the city!!! I repeat, SHEP. FLEW. THE. CITY. Out into space! That tremendously loud SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! you heard? Um, yeah, that was me, in all likelihood. Scared the crap out of my poor mutt, too...Ooops. :D

--Oh lord, my heart nearly stopped when the beam hit before the shield went up all the way. I was waiting for it to explode or fall back into the ocean or something. So Liz has been seriously injured, maybe that's going to be the foreshadowing for next season. And Ronon! Poor Woobie--he's really had a rough go these last few episodes! Aww, he tells the medics to go help the others and they listen to him--and didn't John look awfully pissed about that?!

--So of course they drop out of hyper-space too early and are stranded in the middle of nowhere with only about 24 hrs of power left.

And this is all we get until season 4???

ARGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

::whimpers pitifully::

Isn't it almost summer yet???

AAACCCK!!! Goodness. Sounds very very interesting. Soooo...they won't be on the planet anymore...interesting that they just picked up and left.... *sniff* I think I will miss the ocean. lol Just a cool locale, y'know? That'll take some getting used to.

The rest of it sounds frickin' awesome.

Oh, it was! Just total, total awesomeness!!

One thing--they were planning to land on an uninhabited planet that was largely ocean. Rodney was more comfortable with them trying to land on water instead of a land mass. But now with them stuck in space, we don't know if they'll get to that planet or not. (They did give a designation, but I don't remember what it was.)

So assuming they get to their intended destination, there will still be ocean; just not the same ocean. Could make for some intereting possibilities... :D

Great Review! I'm pretty much with you on all points! I actually really enjoyed disliking Col. Ellis, so job well done, by the writers and actor. And yeah I think they have laid the foundations for Elizabeth's change of cast status next year.

That's an interesting point about the Fantastic Four scene. Yeah it didn't really match that well with the overall ep. They weren't really working as a foursome in this one.

I just adored Shep flying the city. Hugely happy at that.

S4? Whaah! I can't wait.

Thanks! I'm with you on the kudos to the actor and writers on Col. Ellis. I have very mixed feelings about the character and look forward to seeing how they handle him in the future.

A thousand million times Amen! to Shep flying the city. Am still in total awe over that one. :D

If they pull a BSG on us and move S4 debut to the fall, I think I will *totally* lose it...

I already like Jewel better than I liked her on Firefly. Of course I didn't like Firefly, so I guess that's a moot point. But I don't hate her.

RONON!!! That's what ya get for wearing a long sleeve shirt the whole ep. Hopefully you'll have learned your lesson by season 4. And now I have the whole spring to write him and Liz in the infirmary together...

And CHUCK!! They used his NAME! *bounces* And I saw those longing looks at Liz - for shame ;)

LOLOL@alasse! Yes, one can hope he's learned his lesson, but then again, that also means an end to the whumpin' he's been getting... ::ponders::

I like Firefly, but don't absolutely LOVE it. Too much of Jewel's character really did grate a bit.

OMG, YES, Chuck! I forgot to mention that and the boys with their personnel evaluations. Almost fell off the chair when she takes John to task for all above average and excellent--LOL! And Rodney's face--totally priceless!

::happy sigh:: I really do *heart* this episode!
