Think that pretty much covers it, so let the rant begin.

Sooooo. Called and got hubby an appointment at noon to see the doc. Okay, it was actually a nurse-practitioner, but whatever. :D Yep, that's right. *I* called. Despite the fact that I'd only managed about 5 hours of sleep last night due to the dog being a spazz. Because, ya know, contrary to popular belief, apparently fifty-something is NOT old enough to be able to use the phone and make your own medical appointments. Really. ::nods::

And the snow came--yay for that! But I digress. Not ten minutes after the appointment was made, the sleet started. St. Louis radio stations were warning people not to go out unless they absolutely had to because road conditions were really bad and getting worse. So being the concerned, loving husband he is, you would think he'd insist that I stay safe and sound at home, yes?

Um, no. Apparently being in your mid-fifties in also not old enough to go see the big, bad, mean old doctor alone. Though I suppose it might explain why he's refused to go in for a even checkup since 1988 when he had pneumonia. And trust me, I've been nagging him to go because of family history of high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. And with all the stress with his job for the past couple of years especially, well, it was LONG past time.

::major eyerolling::

So after I go out and clean off the car, we hop in and slide on into the doc's office. He has to fill out the new patient paperwork, as he's never been to this doctor. (His old one retired over ten years ago now.) He's going along and I'm just kind of watching as he's sitting right next to me. He gets to the family history portion. I notice he's left a couple of things blank and point it out. His excuse explanation? Well, what does it matter anyway--they've been dead for almost ten years now.

::headdesk:: So I calmly point out that they can't treat him as effectively if they don't have all the information they need, and if they didn't need it they wouldn't ask. He's not happy, but marks the information. Then they call his name and ask him to go in the back. At which point he say, Oh, I don't need to come along...not unless I *really* want to. So I had to brave the treacherous conditions to go along with him so that I could *sit in the waiting room.*

I was not happy. (Thought I should mention that just in case you hadn't guessed.) Anyway, back to the visit. He goes back for treatment and is gone maybe, twenty minutes or so. Comes back out the wrong door (hehe, I could have told him the right way if he hadn't banished me to the waiting room...) ::cough::

So the verdict? He has a sinus infection. Who ever would have thought? Oh, wait. That's right, I did. Told them that on the phone when I made the appointment, even. They want to see him back in two weeks to do some blood tests. Not a shock, given he hasn't had an exam of any kind for nineteen years, I know. They also gave him a couple of prescriptions. One was an antibiotic. The other? For high blood pressure. Gee, who ever would have suspected? Oh, wait. That's right. I've been nagging him for ages to get a checkup for that very reason...

But hey, what the hell do I know???
