NaNo Update: Day...24?

Oy, these past few days have been INSANE! R on vacation + Thanksgiving holidays + Christmas shopping + NaNo = NO online playtime for Kat. *pouts* Can you believe that?!!
We started our Christmas shopping on Wednesday. Yes, that's the day before all the big sales start, but gotta say it was a whole lot less crowded! (Unless you were unfortunate enough to have to brave a grocery store trip, in which case you have my total and absolute sympathy!) Our itinerary for the day went something like this: Best Buy first so we could get double point credit for the two Nintendo DS Lite (in pink!) systems that the kidlets have been telling everyone that Santa is bringing them at Grandma Kat's. *sigh* Then it was on to Borders, where thanks to a pre-holiday sale I picked up season 2 of House and season one of Babylon 5 for under $20 apiece! *does happy dance* From there it was on to lunch at Cracker Barrel (chicken pot pie--yum!) where we also picked up an Apple Pecan Struesel pie. Then it was off to Target, where we acquired some basic necessities like shampoo, conditioner, jewelry cleaner (which sucks and is going back, btw), and a copy of Santa Clause 3 (oops, how'd that get in there??? *g*). Then it was on to Sam's Club where we picked up the pumpkin pie (way too much cinnamon--and I LOVE cinnamon, so that might give you an idea of how over-done it was), two HUGE bags of M&M's for cookies, two 4-CD sets of Christmas music, and a book that R wanted. Then it was off to tote all the goodies home and put away, after which I heated up some soup for a late dinner. Then I worked on NaNo for a bit and managed maybe a couple of hundred words, tops before daughter called and needed a ride home from the PD. (No she did not get arrested! She's an intern!) So I got there, but they were out on a call. So I waited. And waited. And waited. *sigh* It was nearly midnight by the time we got home again. :(
Thanksgiving was good. Went up to the parentals (bought the pies this year instead of baking, as NO TIME!) and had a great time catching up with everyone. No progress on NaNo either Wed (out shopping all day) or Thursday (it was *Thanksgiving*!), but managed to break even again by the time I went to bed on Friday. (Okay, so it was actually Sat morning by then...*headdesk*)
On the plus side, Christmas shopping is not far from done already--yay!! On the not-so-plus side, my wallet took quite a hit for it, lol. But it's all good because that's less time I have to spend in stores playing dodge-the-crazy-peoples between now and Christmas. :D I may post a list of the goodies acquired by R on Friday later (as in, post-NaNo), if anyone is really interested.
Which brings us to Saturday. (Um, that was yesterday. I think.) Anyhow, the laundry was piled up to overflowing the hamper and I've been washing undies in the sink for several days by now so I have clean ones to wear. But Sat. was write-in day and I was not about to fall behind again after I just got caught up, so I told R that I'd do a load when I got home last night and then another load or two today. And then off I went to Riley's Coffee and Fudge with my 38,376 words in hand. We were supposed to be at 40k by the end of the day yesterday to be on pace to finish on time and I was expecting to get moderately close to that by the 6pm quitting time. Got to Riley's and found out that they were not having movie night because of a) the holiday weekend and b) the owner's wedding anniversary. So they invited us to stay later, which we did and I ended up leaving around 8:30pm. My count by the time I left was just over 42k, which totally shocked the bejeebers out of me! So thrilled beyond words with my progress, I get home and expect to be up fairly late doing that load of laundry, right? Wrong. I get home instead to find that my dear, sweet wonderful R has done almost all of the laundry for me! *hugs him to pieces* He said that he wanted me to be able to concentrate on my writing. Is he not just the sweetest man ever?!! :D
So after getting home from Riley's, instead of doing laundry I put in a few more hours of writing. The current totals are...*insert drumroll* 44177 words--which means my one day total for yesterday? Six. Thousand. Words. Holy Moley, I don't think I've ever done six thousand words in twelve hours before!

My apologies to all for being AWOL these past few days. There was just no time, you know? Nonetheless, I do hope all of you had a GREAT holiday (for those who celebrate it) and a fantastic weekend, too! I'll be trying to catch up with comments and such, but realistically that likely will not happen until the end of the week when NaNo is over with for another year--and hopefully by then I'll be having one of NaNo's nifty little purple bars by my name on their site and a certificate that proudly proclaims that I'm a winner again this year! :D
Now it's off to pack up Rad (my lappy) and head out to Starbucks for today's write-in! Hmm...wonder if I can pull off another 6k today??? :D

Wine is always good! (my bottle is chilling as we speak) I'm not done either but at least I am close-ish. MUCH closer than last year when I hit 50k, lol. I actually feel like I can have a complete first draft at the end this year. :D
