Not A Good Day To Be A Pet Here...

Kidlet#1 is spending the long weekend, so instead of going back to her Dad's today, she gets to stay until tomorrow evening. This is good for both her and her mother, but not so much for my headache...
Anyway, the poor kidlet had a tough time today. First, she got up to find her largest goldfish, Hog, floating belly up. So after a proper funeral/flushing, she seemed to bounce back okay and we are off to buy some more fish tomorrow before she goes back to her Dad's.
Then came the next tragedy. R decided to kick back in the recliner and nap for a bit, only he forgot the cardinal rule when kidlets are around: *ALWAYS* check before sitting down! So he did not check and therefore he didn't notice what, or should I say who, was in the chair already...
Yes, as you can see, R sat on poooor Butters and squished him but good. :(

So kidlet has been going around all evening calling him PoorDeadButters, lol. (She's seven, so she knows the difference between Hog's demise and Butters', in case you were wondering.) She thought Butters looked funny all squished up in the chair, but I was a little concerned at first that she might freak out a little after Hog's so-recent unfortunate end--given that Butters has gone everywhere with her (while with Mom anyway) since she was barely 3 years old--but she was fine. In fact, she asked if I could put the picture on my blog so that everyone could see how funny PoorDeadButters looked. So of course, I had to do it. *g*
Thankfully the other Butters weren't here to compound the situation. You see, Kidlet#2 gave Butters to her cousin (Kidlet#1) so they'd have a matching set and both insisted on calling their cats Butters. But then Kidlet#2 lost her Butters during a weekend with her Dad and she was so distraught that Mom had to go buy a replacement--identical, of course. Well after a few months, the first Butters turned up again, so now Kidlet#2 has Butters and Butters, who also go nearly everywhere (except school) with her. As you might imagine, it can get quite confusing when all three Butters are here at the same time!
